The job market for foreign nationals follows a cycle that sees Japanese conglomerates switching their priority between hiring foreign and domestic talent.

In some sectors, such as Hi Tech start-ups, there are employment opportunities for foreign nationals who don’t possess strong Japanese language skills, the opposite could be said for other sectors in the market that are prioritizing on Japanese language skills, potentially forgoing the chance to secure the experience and skills of professionals who do not have the Japanese skills.

Drawing on our speakers long term experience in the recruitment industry and with his current senior management role in one of the top leading recruitment firm, our presenter will discuss and examine current and key trends on what we can expect in the recruitment market in 2018 and beyond for foreign nationals and Japanese in Japan.

Bio:

Grant Habgood is the Managing Director of the SThree PLC’s Japan operation. Originally from New Zealand, he has been recruiting and managing teams across the Pharmaceutical, Financial Services and Technology industries in Tokyo for over 12 years. Grant holds two Bachelor Degrees from the University of Auckland in Business and Japanese.
